Pac-10 picks
Oregon State at Cincinnati (OSU by 3): The Beavers looked like they may be as good as advertised last week even without Sammie Stroughter. Now they may have him back. Pick: Oregon State 27-14.
California at Colorado State (Cal by 14): Classic letdown game. At Cal, classics have been part of the curriculum for decades. Pick: Cal 42-30.
Oregon at Michigan (UM by 8): The smart money is saying the Wolverines will bounce back against the Ducks. We’ve never been smart with our money. Pick: Oregon 35-33.
Boise State at Washington (BSU by 3): The Huskies still aren’t getting any respect despite a rout of Syracuse. Win here and UW will earn plenty. But it won’t happen. Pick: Boise State 31-17.
Brigham Young at UCLA (UCLA by 7): The line has moved markedly toward the Cougars this week. What do they know that we don’t? Pick: UCLA 17-14.
Northern Arizona at Arizona (no line): The Wildcats swear they’ll open up the offense this week. The defense may still score more points. Pick: UA 45-10.
Colorado at Arizona State (ASU by 14): The Sun Devils opened the Dennis Erickson era with a rout. Dan Hawkins’ team will be a lot tougher. Pick: ASU 35-24.
San Diego State vs. Washington State at Seattle (WSU by 13.5): This one could be tougher for the Cougars than it looks on paper. The offense will have to be clicking. Pick: WSU 35-28.
Last week and season: 7-2 overall, 4-5 vs. spread.
