Angels 10, Indians 3: At Anaheim, Calif., Garret Anderson extended his streak to a club-record 11 games with at least one RBI, driving in three runs and leading the Angels past the Indians in the opener of a four-game series between division leaders.

Tigers 3, White Sox 2: At Detroit, Sean Casey and Placido Polanco hit run-scoring singles off Bobby Jenks in the ninth inning, leading the Tigers over Chicago in Gary Sheffield’s return from the disabled list.

Red Sox 7, Orioles 6: At Baltimore, pinch-hitter Jason Varitek singled in the go-ahead run in the ninth inning, and Boston got home runs from David Ortiz and Coco Crisp in a victory over the Orioles. Jonathan Papelbon struck out two in a perfect ninth for his 34th save.
