Mets 3, Astros 1: At New York, Tom Glavine carried a perfect game into the sixth and allowed one run over seven-plus innings to lead the Mets past Houston. Glavine struck out four and walked none to improve to 8-1 over his last 15 starts.

Dodgers 6, Giants 2: At San Francisco, David Wells took a perfect game into the sixth inning and Luis Gonzalez hit a three-run homer in the first, leading Los Angeles past the Giants. Kevin Frandsen’s single in the sixth broke up Boomer’s bid.

Cubs 5, Pirates 1: At Pittsburgh, Carlos Zambrano pitched himself out of an extended slump with one of his best starts of the season, limiting the Pirates to two hits and a run over six-plus innings as Chicago beat Pittsburgh.

Braves 9, Nationals 2: At Atlanta, Jeff Francoeur drove in four runs, including a three-run homer, and Washington made three errors that led to six unearned runs in a loss to the Braves.

Brewers 4, Reds 3: At Cincinnati, Rickie Weeks tripled to drive in Craig Counsell with the go-ahead run in the ninth inning, and Milwaukee beat the Reds.

Padres 3, Rockies 1: At Denver, Greg Maddux didn’t walk a batter for the eighth straight start and scattered three hits over six innings as San Diego beat Colorado.

Diamondbacks 9, Cardinals 8: At Phoenix, Stephen Drew homered to help Arizona beat St. Louis and keep a two-game lead over San Diego in the West.

Phillies 9, Marlins 1: At Philadelphia, Greg Dobbs hit a game-tying, two-out triple in the fourth inning and Chris Coste drove in the go-ahead run on the next at-bat as the Phillies shut down Florida.
