Community Building hosts open house Sept. 21

The Spokesman-Review

An open house is planned for Sept. 21 from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the Community Building at 35 W. Main Ave. in Spokane to give people in the community a better idea of the programs housed there.

Each of the tenants in the building will provide information about their programs along with food and refreshments. Programs include the Center for Justice on the third floor, which will be highlighting its Community Advocacy program. There will also be a reception for volunteers involved in a “Street Law” program, which is sponsored by the center and volunteers from the county bar association.

Community Advocacy is a growing program in which non-legal advocates help clients resolve or research issues such as consumer protection, landlord disputes, employment problems, access to government and restoring financial credit.

A ribbon-cutting at 6 p.m. for the newly renovated Saranac Hotel will allow for expansion of Community Building services.
