Prep Roundup: Wildcats dealt first GSL loss
Amanda Dahlstrom and Emma Olgard each had seven kills and Karyn Mockel added a match-high 28 assists as Mead defeated Mt. Spokane 25-17, 25-19, 25-23, handing the Wildcats their first Greater Spokane League volleyball loss of the season.
Alexis Olgard blocked six shots and Meg Ryan added 10 kills for the Panthers.
Catlin Barschig led Mt. Spokane with six kills.
With the win, Mead improved to 2-0 in league play while the Wildcats fell to 2-1.
In other Greater Spokane League play, Desi Rainey had 14 digs and Allie Riggin added 12 kills as East Valley (2-0) topped visiting Ferris 25-20, 25-9, 28-26. Carianna Rath had 13 digs to lead the Saxons (0-3). … Emily Sarff had a match-high nine kills and Shannon Giusti dished out 32 assists as Central Valley (2-1) defeated visiting Rogers 25-15, 25-14, 25-16. Rachel Griffith had four kills and Devann Burney had two aces to lead the Pirates (0-3). … Lexi Pettersen had a match-high 11 kills and Kaylee Rector added 17 digs as Shadle Park beat host North Central (1-2) 25-21, 25-23, 25-16. Lindsay Niemeier dished out 39 assists for the Highlanders (2-1). … Laurie Yearout had 23 assists and 12 digs, leading Lewis and Clark (3-0) to a 25-18, 25-20, 25-21 win over visiting University. Lisa Reich had 10 assists and three aces to lead the Titans (1-2).

In other league action, Lindsey Ham had a match-high 27 digs and Kirby O’Connor added 19 assists and six aces as Cheney (1-2) beat visiting Riverside 25-23, 25-18, 23-25, 22-25, 15-10. Joni Nagy had 11 kills to lead the Rams (0-3). … Melissa Mauro had a match-high 12 kills and nine digs and Alyssa Wolb added 30 assists and six aces as West Valley (3-0) defeated host Deer Park 25-16, 22-25, 25-15, 25-17. Ariana Obert led the Stags (2-1) with a team-high 11 kills, two aces and 18 digs.
Girls soccer
Pullman made all five of its shots in a shootout and beat visiting Cheney 2-1 to take over sole possession of first place in the Great Northern League. Haley Snodgrass, Anna Albrecht, Kendra Heim, Amy Sterk and Niina Al-Hassan all scored in the shootout for the Greyhounds (5-1, 4-0). Danielle Raczykowski put the Blackhawks (4-2, 3-1) ahead 1-0 with a goal in the 33rd minute. Pullman’s Cory Druffel scored off an assist from Vivianna Barona in the 39th minute to notch the game at 1.
Elsewhere in the GNL, Jacey Fitzpatrick had a goal and an assist as Lakeside blanked visiting Clarkston (0-5, 0-4) in Nine Mile Falls. Moriah Beeler opened the scoring with a goal off an assist from Callie Paul in the fourth minute. Kasey Rubosky added a goal for the Eagles (3-3, 3-1) in the 74th minute. … Amy Shaw, Kelsey Gauche and Helen Nelson scored two goals apiece as Colville routed host Chewelah 9-0. Whitley Luu, Carly Gauche and Sarah Melvin also scored for the Indians (2-3, 1-3), who outshot the Cougars (0-6, 0-4) 32-2. … Kristen Johnson scored Riverside’s first and last goals, leading the Rams to a 3-0 shutout of visiting Medical Lake (2-3, 1-3). Tabitha Grow added a goal and an assist for Riverside (3-2, 3-1), which outshot the Cardinals 20-6. … Kaley Way scored in the 76th minute to break a 2-all tie and give West Valley (4-1, 3-1) a 3-2 win over host Deer Park. Way capped the scoring in the first half to tie it up at one after the Stags (3-3, 2-2) benefited from an own goal in the 15th minute. WV’s Laura Estey scored in the 70th minute to tie the game at 2 before Way won it 6 minutes later.
