Hints from Heloise

The Spokesman-Review

Dear Heloise: An easy way to clean a glass hummingbird feeder is to put a spoonful of uncooked rice in the dirty feeder along with just enough water to shake the rice around the feeder. The mildew will come off instantly. Just rinse the feeder and it’s ready for refilling. I’ve got so many families in my yard that I need to refill daily. – Sandy Olin, Westlake Village, Calif.

Dear Heloise: I own three cats, and I have the big automatic litter box, so I have to clean it every day. I line the box with a grocery bag every day, and all I have to do is sift out the small clumps, remove the bag and it goes to the Dumpster. – Dee Hatch, Lovell, Wyo.

Dear Heloise: Can you take one more pet-name submission for your pet column? Everyone I tell this to gets a good laugh. My male cockatiel was named Jude until it laid eggs, then she became Judy. – Pat. F., Greenwell Springs, La.
