Community update: Race for the Cure will fight breast cancer

The eighth annual Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure at North Idaho College begins at 10 a.m. Sept. 30.

Racers can register for $20 online at www.komencda.org or call (208) 665-9888 until midnight on Friday. Registration the day of the race is $30.

Proceeds benefit the fight against breast cancer, and up to 75 percent of the proceeds will go toward early-prevention efforts in North Idaho. For more information, call Suzanne Gilbert at (208) 641-5654.

Children’s Village Benefit

At Coeur d’Alene Honda, 2745 W. Seltice Way, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. today enjoy the 11th annual Chili Cook-Off, benefiting the Children’s Village.

A drawing will be held at 3 p.m. for a 2007 Honda Metropolitan Scooter. Tickets are $2 each, $10 for six, or $20 for 12, available at the Children’s Village and Coeur d’Alene Honda. Call (208) 667-1189 for more information.

CANS Film Festival

Support Second Harvest Inland Northwest on Thursday at the CANS Film Festival.

Diabetes Walk

The 12th annual Walk to Cure Diabetes event will be Saturday in Riverfront Park, starting at 10 a.m. Check-in is at 9 a.m.

Tip-A-Cop at Red Robin

Area law enforcement officers are trading their badges and handcuffs for aprons on Saturday to raise money for Washington’s Special Olympics athletes. Officers will be accepting tips at all Spokane Red Robin restaurants – Valley Mall, Downtown and Newport Highway, from noon to 8 p.m.
