Braves 4, Brewers 3 (11): At Atlanta, Milwaukee second baseman Rickie Weeks made an error on a routine grounder in the 11th inning and Mark Teixeira followed with an RBI single, giving the Braves a win that left the Brewers with a 2 1/2-game deficit.

Mets 7, Marlins 2: At Miami, Oliver Perez pitched eight innings, Moises Alou extended his hitting streak to a team record-tying 26 games and New York maintained its hold on the East by beating Florida.

Cubs 9, Pirates 5: At Chicago, Alfonso Soriano hit two of the Cubs’ four homers and had five RBIs as Chicago beat Pittsburgh to solidify its lead in the Central.

Cardinals 7, Astros 4: At St. Louis, Rick Ankiel homered for the first time in 17 games, leading the Cardinals over Houston.

Phillies 4, Nationals 1 (10): At Washington, Ryan Howard drove in the go-ahead run in the 10th inning, helping Philadelphia beat the Nationals in 10 innings and keep pace in the East.

Giants 2, Reds 0: At San Francisco, pinch-hitter Ray Durham broke up a scoreless tie with a two-run single with two outs in the eighth inning and the Giants snapped a four-game losing streak with a victory over Cincinnati.

Diamondbacks 6, Dodgers 2: At Phoenix, rookies Chris Young and Mark Reynolds homered for the second night in a row, and West-leading Arizona beat crumbling Los Angeles again.

Rockies 6, Padres 2: At San Diego, Brad Hawpe drove in two runs and Colorado matched a season-high with its seventh straight win, closing on the wild card-leading Padres.
