Eastern Washington tops Northern Colorado

Alysha Cook had a match-high 19 kills and Hayley Hills added 18 kills and 11 digs as the Eastern Washington volleyball team edged Northern Colorado 23-30, 30-23, 30-21, 27-30, 15-10 in a Big Sky Conference match Thursday at Reese Court in Cheney.

Mandy Daniels added a match-high 22 digs for the Eagles.

With the win, EWU improved to 5-9 overall and 4-1 in the BSC, while the Bears fell to 4-11 and 2-2 in conference play.

•Idaho stayed hot with a 34-32, 30-25, 30-22 Western Athletic Conference win over Louisiana Tech in Ruston, La.

The Vandals have won three consecutive WAC matches after losing their conference opener to Hawaii.

Haley Larsen finished with a match-high 17 kills and added 13 digs while Sarah Conwell chipped in 11 kills.

With the win, Idaho improved to 6-8 overall and 3-1 in the WAC while the Lady Techsters fell to 5-13 and 0-5 in conference.

•Gonzaga opened West Coast Conference play with a 33-31, 30-15, 30-25 loss to host Saint Mary’s (9-4, 1-0 WCC) at Moraga, Calif.

Becky Jones had 11 kills and nine digs to lead the Bulldogs (11-5, 0-1 WCC).

•Amanda Misa had a match-high 17 kills and Renee Bordelon dished out 30 assists as North Idaho defeated Snow College 30-25, 30-24, 30-19 in a Scenic West Conference match in Coeur d’Alene.

Whitney Tucker added nine kills and 10 digs for the Cardinals, who improved to 16-5 overall and 3-0 in the SWAC. The Badgers fell to 7-10 and 0-2 in conference play.

Football

Wide receiver Steve Odom and defensive back Robert Herbert had been added to the Spokane Shock roster.
