Hints from Heloise

The Spokesman-Review

Dear Heloise: This morning my wife was reading your column. She saw the hint on tipping the laundry-detergent cup upside down on a washcloth to drain it and save it for another wash. We think what my wife has been doing for years works much better. She just empties the cup into the washing machine and then throws it in with the wash. When she takes the wash out, she also takes out the detergent cup – clean as a whistle and looking new. – Gerald Schutz, Winchester, Va.

Gerald, say hello to my readers of The Winchester Star. Those little plastic cups are disposable, so I toss them in, too. Thanks for writing.Heloise

Dear Heloise: When I travel or even when I am working outside the house, I forward my calls from my land line to my cell phone. That way, I don’t miss any calls, and I am not listening for the phone and running to get it when I am outside working in the yard. – Candy in Pennsylvania
