Names to know
MIKE THOMAS, ARIZONA RECEIVER
The junior has blossomed thanks to the spread, leading the Pac-10 in receptions (7.75 per game, 12th in the nation). He’s also found the end zone four times, just one less than his best season, earning the nickname Money Mike. The past two weeks, Thomas has caught 19 passes for 242 yards and is on pace to equal the UA record for most receptions in a season.
ALFONSO JACKSON, WSU SAFETY
The 5-foot-9, 204-pound strong safety isn’t the biggest guy on the defensive side of the ball, but he knows how to deliver a blow. Although he’s tied with cousin Kendrick Dunn for third in tackles, he’s No. 1 in big hits. If those hits force turnovers today, the Cougars’ defense has a chance to slow UA.
SPENCER LARSEN, ARIZONA LINEBACKER
A four-year starter, Larsen has improved his tackle totals each season, with a team-high 89 last year, including 10.5 for loss. This season he’s kept up nearly the same pace, with a team-leading 33 tackles.
