Spokane Fire Department is price shopping for new trucks. The department’s rigs usually last more than 10 years before needing to be replaced. But buying a new one is time consuming, expensive and requires extensive research.

A new fire engine cost around $200,000 in 1998. Since then, the cost has grown to around $450,000.

Today, we look at some of the components on a fire engine and the cost of the gear that’s stored on board:
