Seahawks release Alexander

Associated Press The Spokesman-Review

KIRKLAND, Wash. – Seahawks president Tim Ruskell announced Tuesday that the team has released former MVP Shaun Alexander unconditionally, just 26 months after he signed a $62 million contract. When Alexander signed that mammoth deal, he was coming off an MVP season in 2005 and a Super Bowl appearance. Alexander, who ran for just 716 yards last season, said he is not retiring and plans to play in the NFL this fall.
