People: The extra Miley went too far?

The world now has an official provocative photo of Disney tween sensation Miley Cyrus – and she’s having second thoughts.

A picture of the 15-year-old “Hannah Montana” star wrapped in a satin bedsheet, looking over her shoulder with her back exposed, appears in the upcoming Vanity Fair.

In an accompanying caption, Cyrus says of the shot by celebrity photographer Annie Leibovitz: “I think it’s really artsy. It wasn’t in a skanky way. … Annie took, like, a beautiful shot, and I thought that was really cool.”

But now, Cyrus says through her publicist: “I took part in a photo shoot that was supposed to be ‘artistic’ and now, seeing the photographs and reading the story, I feel so embarrassed.”

The Disney Channel chimes in: “A situation was created to deliberately manipulate a 15-year-old in order to sell magazines.”

But Vanity Fair points out that Cyrus’ parents and/or helpers were on the set all day, and that “everyone thought it was a beautiful and natural portrait of Miley.”

Last week, amateur photos circulated online of Cyrus flashing her midriff and a green bra, which she calls “silly” and “inappropriate.”

Grope ya, Uma …

A former mental patient’s note that his hands should be on Uma Thurman‘s body “at all times” may be creepy but it is not criminal, his lawyer said Monday as his stalking trial began.

Jack Jordan “does not think the way you and I think,” attorney George Vomvolakis said. “He doesn’t know the boundaries you and I know. He thinks it’s romantic.”

Prosecutors say Jordan sent e-mails to Thurman and her family and showed up on a movie set and at her home.

Kaboom ya, Oprah

Tom Cruise returns to “The Oprah Winfrey Show” this week, three years after a couch-jumping appearance that spawned countless jokes and YouTube parodies.

The two-part appearance Friday and Monday will coincide with the 25th anniversary of Cruise’s film “Risky Business.”

In May 2005, he repeatedly jumped on Winfrey’s couch, proclaiming his love for Katie Holmes was “beyond cool.”

Weighing anchor

Tom Cruise‘s 13-year-old son is following in his father’s footsteps.

Connor Cruise, the adopted son of Cruise and ex-wife Nicole Kidman, has landed a minor role in the Will Smith drama “Seven Pounds.”

Hello, Vanity Fair?

Meanwhile, Lindsay Lohan‘s 14-year-old sister, Ali, has begun shooting her first feature, “Mostly Ghostly,” based on the preteen book series by R.L. Stine.

Life imitates farce

Finally, this just in: Amy Poehler, who plays a surrogate mother in the hit comedy “Baby Mama,” is expecting her first child with actor husband Will Arnett.
