Devils rip Indians
PASCO – Even the Spokane Indians can have a bad day.
Christian Friedrich (2-0) struck out nine in less than six innings and the Tri-City Dust Devils pounded out 18 hits Tuesday during a 15-2 Northwest League decision at Gesa Stadium that snapped Spokane’s three-game winning streak.
It was Spokane’s most lopsided loss in a spectacular season. The Indians (35-13), with the best record in the minor leagues, lost for just the fifth time in 24 road games.
Of Spokane’s 13 losses, seven have been by one run.
The good news for Spokane: Boise lost at Yakima and remained five games behind the Indians in the East Division.
Also, Spokane plays its next five games, starting tonight, at home against Vancouver, which is 1-4 against the Indians this season.
