Diamondbacks 3, Pirates 1: At Phoenix, Brandon Webb became the first 16-game winner in the majors this season, tossing a nine-hitter for his third complete game as Arizona defeated Pittsburgh. Webb carried a shutout into the ninth.
Marlins 8, Phillies 2: At Philadelphia, Josh Johnson pitched six scoreless innings, Jeremy Hermida drove in four runs and Florida beat the Phillies in a matchup of the two top teams in the East Division.
Mets 6, Padres 5: At New York, Fernando Tatis homered twice and drove in four runs and Mike Pelfrey pitched effectively into the seventh inning to help the Mets hold off San Diego.
Cubs 11, Astros 7: At Chicago, Alfonso Soriano hit a tiebreaking, three-run homer in the seventh inning and the Cubs rallied after blowing a five-run lead to beat Houston.
Brewers 8, Reds 1: At Cincinnati, Prince Fielder hit a two-run home run and Milwaukee beat the Reds for just its third win in the past 10 games.
Cardinals 6, Dodgers 4 (11): At St. Louis, Ryan Ludwick hit a two-run home run in the 11th inning to lead the Cardinals, who blew a four-run ninth-inning lead, over Los Angeles.
Rockies 8, Nationals 2: At Denver, Brad Hawpe’s bases-loaded, two-run single in the bottom of the eighth sparked a six-run rally and Colorado beat Washington.
Braves 11, Giants 4: At San Francisco, Mike Hampton earned his first victory in nearly three years as Atlanta beat the Giants. Hampton hadn’t won since Aug. 14, 2005.
