Idaho adds diving coach to program

The University of Idaho swimming program announced the hiring of a full-time assistant coach Thursday that will also result in a new program.

QiongJie Huang will coach diving for the Vandals.

Huang won the 2005 NCAA 1-meter springboard championship, was the Western Athletic Conference Diver of the Year in 2004 and 2006, is an eight-time All-American and placed third at the 2000 China Nationals.

“We’re ahead of the game for next year and we’re ahead of our long-term plan for having a diving program,” Tom Jager, head coach of the swimming and diving program, said.

Football

Washington State’s Sept 27. homecoming game against the Oregon Ducks will be televised by FSN.

Game time is 3:15 p.m.

Triathlon

Registration for Saturday’s Coeur d’Alene Triathlon ends at 3 p.m. today and must be done in person at the Coeur d’Alene Chamber of Commerce, 105 N. First St.

The event, which begins and ends at City Park beach, starts at 7 a.m. Saturday with a 1.5-kilometer swim, followed by a 40K bike ride and 10K run.
