“CSI: Crime Scene Investigation” has solved the mystery of who will replace departing star William Petersen: It’s Laurence Fishburne.

The Emmy and Tony winner will be introduced in the ninth episode of the upcoming 10th season, CBS said Monday.

He’ll play a forensics scientist with a secret: His own genetic profile has been identified in serial killers.

“This gentleman knows this about himself and is … in this journey to discover who his true character will ultimately become,” says CBS programming chief Nina Tassler.

The final episode featuring Petersen will air early next year. Petersen, who has been with the series since its debut in fall 2000, will remain a “CSI” executive producer.

Fishburne, 47, received an Oscar nomination for his portrayal of Ike Turner in 1993’s “What’s Love Got to Do With It” and a Tony in 1992 for “Two Trains Running.”

Fishburne earned Emmys for his 1993 guest appearance on Fox’s “Tribeca” and another for the 1997 movie “Miss Evers’ Boys.” Early in his career, he appeared in shows including “Miami Vice” and “Hill Street Blues.”

Husband, play thyself

In other TV news, Courtney B. Vance will join real-life wife Angela Bassett on “ER.”

Vance will play the husband of Bassett’s attending-physician character during the NBC medical drama’s 15th and final season.

He previously starred in the network’s “Law & Order: Criminal Intent” for five seasons.

On the “de” list

In the biggest celebrity union since California legalized same-sex marriage, Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi wed Saturday night at their Beverly Hills home.

The ceremony was attended by 19 guests, including DeGeneres’ mom, Betty, and de Rossi’s mother, Margaret Rogers, who had flown in from Australia, People.com reported.

Here comes that pain again

Singer Annie Lennox is recovering at her London home after having spinal surgery.

She suffered a painful back spasm earlier this month while attending the international AIDS conference in Mexico City.

Lennox launched an AIDS fundraising campaign, “Sing,” featuring a song she recorded with 23 female singers, including Madonna.

Less material, more girl

Felicity Huffman admits she once tried on Madonna’s knickers.

In 1988, the “Desperate Housewives” star says, when making her Broadway debut by replacing Madonna in “Speed-the-Plow,” she found a thong in the dressing room.

“I was like, ‘This is Madonna’s underwear!’ … Of course, it didn’t fit me.”
