Crews search for missing CdA man

Kootenai County Sheriff’s Department officials and search volunteers have scoured more than 800 miles of roads looking for Daniel B. Varner, 54.

The Coeur d’Alene man went to cut wood in the Fernan Lake area Saturday and never returned.

Varner was driving a 1998 Ford F-150 truck with the Idaho license plate K267796, according to the Sheriff’s Department.

Crews hope to fly over the area once clouds began to clear, according to a news release.

The search will continue through the weekend.

Deputies have contacted local ATV shops to ask local riders to keep an eye out for Varner or his truck and notify authorities.
