Early start for EWU

Men’s team opens Big Sky play Dec. 6

The Eastern Washington University men’s basketball team won’t have to wait long to find out how it matches up with their Big Sky Conference brethren.

The Eagles, 11-19 overall and 6-10 in league play last season, will open Big Sky play on Dec. 6 with a home game against Montana State, the earliest conference start in school history.

With league play beginning so early in the season, Eastern will have seven non-conference games (and two exhibitions) to prepare for the opener with Montana State.

The Eagles play three teams that played in the NCAA tournament following last season – including a home date against Texas-Arlington on Nov. 22. Boise State will host EWU on Dec. 29, in addition to home and away matchups with conference foe Portland State.

Other highlights from the schedule include road games against Illinois, Minnesota, Hawaii and Washington.

•The University of Idaho will host Washington State University on Dec. 21, one day later than what was previously scheduled.
