Plenty of live music tonight on NBC, CBS

By MIKE HUGHES Gannett News Service

Tonight’s must-see

“Christmas in Rockefeller Center,” 8 p.m., NBC; then “Grammy Nominations Concert,” 9 p.m., CBS. We’ll settle for any reason to have lots of live music.

NBC ranges from kids (Miley Cyrus, Jonas Brothers) to Tony Bennett. It has Beyonce, her sister Solange Knowles and “American Idol” champ David Cook. Also, Harry Connick Jr. and country’s Rascal Flatts and Faith Hill, plus Rosie O’Donnell with the Broadway Kids.

CBS has Taylor Swift co-hosting (with LL Cool J) and singing. It has Mariah Carey, John Mayer, Celine Dion, B.B. King and the Foo Fighters.

Tonight’s might-see

“Secret Millionaire,” 8-10 p.m., Fox. Fox, the champion of reality cruelty, tries a feel-good show.

Each episode has a wealthy person or couple living in a low-income area. Cameras claim to be doing a documentary.

The millionaires learn and adapt. Then they donate money to a person or project.

Other choices include

“Rudolph, the Red-Nosed Reindeer,” 8 p.m., CBS. This animated special has thrived for 44 years. We think it’s only so-so, but that’s a minority view.

“Pushing Daisies,” 8 p.m., ABC. You know how nasty those cook-offs can be, right? Ned and Olive are in one, when a body is found in the fryer.

“Private Practice,” 9 p.m., ABC. Addison tries to save a comatose woman and her unborn baby.

“Spectacle: Elvis Costello With …,” 9 p.m., Sundance. Elton John is the season’s first guest, amiably discussing the contrasts of his life. He’s a smooth talker, but no good at lyrics; his favorite memories involve co-writing in his parents’ apartment; Bernie Taupin would race in with the words, which John would convert quickly to a song.

“Law & Order,” 10 p.m., NBC. When a case takes the detectives outside New York City, they collide with a sheriff known for his drug busts.

“Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show,” 10 p.m., CBS. Slender women keep us updated on the fashion trends for lingerie. Also, Usher performs.
