Associated Press

Tyler Smith had the first triple-double in school history, helping No. 10 Tennessee to an 87-69 win over UNC-Ashville (3-4) on Wednesday night at Knoxville, Tenn., and giving Vols coach Bruce Pearl career victory No. 400.

Smith finished with 12 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists for Tennessee (6-1).

(1) North Carolina 98, (13) Michigan State 63: Tyler Hansbrough finished with 23 points and 11 rebounds, leading the top-ranked Tar Heels (8-0) past the Spartans (4-2) at Detroit’s Ford Field, home of the NFL Lions and the 2009 Final Four.

Hansbrough, hampered this season by a stress reaction in his right shin, played for just the fourth time in eight games, but looked sharp in 27 minutes.

(15) Wake Forest 83, Indiana 58: The Demon Deacons (7-0), who have the ACC’s stingiest defense, held the rebuilding Hoosiers (4-3) to 37.7 percent shooting and forced 26 turnovers in the win at Winston-Salem, N.C. The Hoosiers’ next opponent is No. 5 Gonzaga on Saturday.

Utah 95, Oregon 81: Tyler Kepkay scored 23 points and the Utes (5-1) made a season-high 12 3-pointers to race to a victory at Salt Lake City over the Ducks (3-4) , who were without their leading scorer for the first time this season.

The Ducks’ freshman sensation, Michael Dunigan, missed the game because of an elbow injury.
