Pirates defeat Regals

Liz Horiatis posted a double-double – 11 points, 12 rebounds – and Leah Pomante scored 13 to lead the Whitworth Pirates to a 58-43 victory over the California Lutheran Regals in the NBC Camps Whit Classic on Saturday at Whitworth Fieldhouse.

The Pirates (5-3) broke open the game over the final 13 minutes by outscoring the Regals (1-5) 30-9.

In the other game, the Whitman Missionaries (6-0) rolled to a 72-60 victory over the ninth-ranked Washington University (St. Louis) Bears (4-3).

Tournament MVP Michelle Krall paced the Missionaries, scoring all of her game-high 19 points in the second half.

Zoe Unruh led the Bears with 17 points.

Utah State 71, Eastern Washington 65 (OT): Lydia Whitehead tallied 21 points, six rebounds and three blocked shots to propel the Aggies (4-3) to a non-conference overtime win over the Eagles (3-5) in Logan, Utah.

Kyla Evans paced EWU with 15 points, hitting 5 of 8 from 3-point range. Nicole Scott chipped in a double-double – 12 points and 10 rebounds.

CC Spokane 56, Southwestern 48: Kelsey Stillar tossed in a game-high 16 points and Kami Clark added 13 points and nine rebounds to lead the Sasquatch (6-1) past the Lakers (3-3) at the Everett Classic tournament in Everett, Wash.
