Georgia (Grimes) Winn

Georgia Carlotta (Grimes) Winn is celebrating her 100th birthday today. She was born Dec. 11, 1908, in Pullman.
Winn attended grade school and high school in Pullman, and she attended Washington State College, which later became Washington State University. Grimes Way on the WSU campus is named after her father, George Grimes, who was a longtime employee of the college.
Winn worked for Washington Water Power, where she met her husband of 41 years, Loris A. Winn. They were married in Spokane on May 26, 1938. During her husband’s career with WWP, the Winns lived in Pullman, Davenport and Spokane. He died in 1979.
Winn loves to read and enjoyed many summers with her sister, Burnette Jones, and family at Priest Lake, Idaho. She was also active in the Alpha Chi Omega sorority for many years.
Winn now resides at St. Joseph Care Center.
She has one daughter, Moffett Winn, who lives in Spokane; and several nieces and nephews including Barry and Carole Jones, and Judy Jones, all of Spokane; Dennis Jones, of Sammamish, Wash.; and Gary Grimes of Dundee, Ore.
