Curlew turns away Columbia
Jordan Wakefield tossed in 18 points and Jacob Bryant used four 3-pointers to help him score 16 as the Curlew Cougars turned back the Columbia Lions 51-41 in a Panorama League game on Saturday in Curlew.
Curlew used a 19-6 advantage in the third quarter to erase a one-point halftime deficit.
Marcos Morado scored 21 to lead Columbia.
Cusick 55, Inchelium 48: Spencer Shanholtzer and Tyler Edwards notched double-doubles and the visiting Panthers (6-0, 4-0) slowly pulled away from the Hornets (2-4, 1-2) in the second half. Shanholtzer finished with 19 points and 12 rebounds, while Edwards contributed 14 points and 11 boards. Tony Louie scored 19 to lead the Hornets, while Brandon Kohler added 15 points.
Springdale 58, Republic 43: Chris Bossio poured in 20 points and Ryan Presho and Sam Howard scored 14 and 12, respectively, to lead the Chargers (3-2, 1-1) past the host Tigers (1-5, 0-2). Jesse Beck had 24 points for Republic.
District 9 North League
Tekoa-Oakesdale 69, Pomeroy 43: Casey Cook scored 20 of his 23 points in the second quarter and Kelly Cook scored 20 to propel the Nighthawks (2-2, 1-1) to a win over the visiting Pirates (0-6, 0-3). Kevin Curnutt led Pomeroy with 16 points, while Brent Morgan scored 12.
Bi-County 2B League
Davenport 67, Reardan 53: Taylor Morgan tossed in 20 points and Jarod Gunning and Morgan Scharff scored 15 and 13, respectively, to propel the Gorillas (2-0, 1-0) past the Indians (1-3, 1-1). Mike Matson scored 14 to pace the Indians, who fell behind 27-8 after one quarter.
Colfax 52, Lind-Ritzville 49: Caleb Bravard netted 12 points, Tanner Gay scored 11 and Alex Teade added 10 points to help the Bulldogs (3-0, 2-0) rally from nine points down in the final quarter to beat the visiting Broncos (1-2, 0-1). Jamie Stevenson led L-R with 18 points, while Cory Whitmore added 13 points.
Non-league
Kettle Falls 65, Northport 50: Shelby Hite scored 18 of his game-high 24 points in the first half and Kirt Douse tallied 15 of his 17 points in the second half to lead the visiting Bulldogs (1-4) over the Mustangs (1-4). Marseilles DeAugero netted 14 points to pace Northport.
Priest River 51, Newport 49: Eric Holbrook hit 4 of 5 3-point attempts and scored 14 and Jake Weimer added 13 points to help the Spartans (5-0) slip past the Grizzlies (3-5) in the championship game of the Newport Holiday Tournament. Dyland Zickler paced Newport with 15 points, while Erik Weidermeir scored 11 and Jeremiah Shultz snagged 13 rebounds.
Bonners Ferry 52, Clark Fork 44: Aaron Hoisington ripped the nets for 25 points to lift the Badgers (1-3) over the Wampus Cats (1-4) in the third-place game of the Newport Holiday Tournament. Chase Chowning and Jared Broggi scored 16 each to pace Clark Fork.
Almira/Coulee-Hartline 54, Moses Lake Christian 48: Cody Jess tossed in 23 points – hitting five 3-pointers along the way – and the Warriors (2-3) beat the visiting Lions at Coulee City. The victory avenged ACH’s 20-point loss to the Lions two weeks ago.
Colville 56, Chewelah 44: Alias Prouty had 24 points, Cruz Thompson scored 11 and they each snared 10 rebounds to lead the Indians (2-2) past the visiting Cougars (4-2). Forest Trampush tallied 19 points and 10 rebounds to lead the way for Chewelah.
