Man not snowbound after all; charges filed
LA PINE, Ore. – Authorities say Deschutes County deputies spent hours Tuesday searching for a man stuck in deep snow south of La Pine, only to learn later that his call for help was a hoax.
According to authorities, 52-year-old Thomas Penner of La Pine used his CB radio to tell another resident in town he was stranded.
The resident contacted the police.
Using information Penner had provided over the CB radio, investigators located his home and found him inside.
Deputies charged Penner with disorderly conduct, initiating a false report and recklessly endangering another.
