Bowman leads GU to victory
Heather Bowman scored 21 points and the Gonzaga Bulldogs made 57 percent of their shots in the second half on their way to a 74-50 West Coast Conference basketball victory over the Saint Mary’s Gaels Thursday night at the McCarthey Athletic Center.
Five more Bulldogs scored between seven and nine points as Gonzaga (15-6, 6-0) pulled away from a 33-21 halftime lead by outscoring the Gaels 41-29 in the second half.
Louella Tomlinson led Saint Mary’s (10-12, 2-4) with 11 points.
Montana St. 83, E. Washington 70: At Bozeman, Mont., Rebecca Mercer scored 26 points and Jenny Heringer added 20 to help lead the Bobcats (9-10, 4-3) to a Big Sky Conference victory over the Eagles (3-17, 0-7).
Heringer led the Bobcats with 10 rebounds. Sarah Strand added 13 points.
Sydney Benson led Eastern Washington with 20 points. Tatjana Sparavalo and Nicole Scott scored 16 points apiece.
Scott led the team with 11 rebounds.
