Cougs to get 16-year-old

The Spokesman-Review

PULLMAN – Terrance Hayward, a 16-year-old cornerback from Culver City, Calif., confirmed that he has committed to Washington State and plans to sign next week.

The 6-foot-1, 180-pound senior skipped ahead to seventh grade and has since “played with people older than me, so I don’t think it’ll make that big of a difference.”

Hayward also played wide receiver on the Culver City High School football team, assistant coach Greg Goodyear said.

This past fall, Hayward registered 31 tackles – 5.1 per game – and three interceptions.

He averaged 26 yards on punt returns and 21 yards returning kickoffs.

Hayward visited Pullman the weekend of Jan. 19 and was among a loud crowd at the WSU basketball team’s victory against Oregon. He said people told him the crowd is louder at football games.
