Paulus, Duke take down rival Tar Heels

Duke’s depth took care of short-handed North Carolina, keeping the second-ranked Blue Devils alone atop the Atlantic Coast Conference.

Greg Paulus scored 18 points and was one of six players in double figures in the Blue Devils’ 89-78 win over the third-ranked Tar Heels (21-2, 6-2 Atlantic Coast Conference) on Wednesday night in Chapel Hill, N.C., ending a three-game losing streak in the heated rivalry.

Jon Scheyer added 17 points for Duke (20-1, 8-0 ACC).

(1) Memphis 77, SMU 48: At Memphis, Tenn., reserve guard Andre Allen scored a career-high 19 points as the top-ranked Tigers (22-0, 8-0 Conference USA) beat the Mustangs (7-13, 1-6).

Memphis extended the nation’s longest home-court winning streak to 45 games.

(8) Wisconsin 60, Iowa 54: At Iowa City, Iowa, Marcus Landry scored 16 points, Brian Butch added 12 and the Badgers (19-3, 9-1 Big Ten) held off the Hawkeyes (11-13, 4-7).

(12) Texas 64, Oklahoma 54: At Norman, Okla., A.J. Abrams scored 22 points to lead the Longhorns (18-4, 5-2 Big 12) past the Sooners (15-7, 3-4).(19) Connecticut 63, Syracuse 61: At Syracuse, N.Y., Jeff Adrien had 19 points and 12 rebounds, A.J. Price added 14 points and the Huskies (17-5, 7-3 Big East) won their sixth straight game.

Paul Harris had 24 points, 11 rebounds, four steals and four assists for the Orange (16-8, 6-5).

(20) Kansas St. 74, Nebraska 59: At Manhattan, Kan., Michael Beasley had 35 points and 13 rebounds to tie a Wildcat (16-5, 6-1 Big 12) single-season record with his 18th double-double in a win over the Cornhuskers (13-7, 2-5).

(22) Notre Dame 95, Seton Hall 69: At Newark, N.J., Luke Harangody had 22 points and 13 rebounds to lead the Irish (17-4, 7-2 Big East) over the Pirates (15-8, 5-5).

(23) Vanderbilt 67, Georgia 59: At Athens, Ga., Ross Neltner hit two key baskets in the final 2 minutes to help the Commodores (19-4, 4-4 Southeastern Conference) beat the Bulldogs (11-9, 2-5).

Women

(10) Oklahoma 64, Missouri 57: At Columbia, Mo., Courtney Paris had 25 points and 17 rebounds for her 81st consecutive double-double as the Sooners (16-4, 6-2 Big 12) beat the Tigers (8-14, 1-8).
