Marc Soelberg scored 16 points and grabbed nine rebounds to lead third-seeded Freeman to a 71-43 victory over sixth-seeded Kettle Falls in a District 7 1A tournament game Friday night at Freeman.

Taylor Vold and Jake Heinen added 14 points apiece for the Scotties, who outscored the Bulldogs 23-4 in the first quarter.

Lucas Fox had 13 points to lead Kettle Falls (7-14), which was eliminated.

Freeman (13-8) advances to play No. 2 seed Lakeside (10-10) at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday at Mead High.

Elsewhere, Eric Thome scored 15 points and Mike Naccarato added 14 as Chewelah defeated Newport 49-44. Willie Hunt tallied a game-high 16 points for the Grizzlies (6-15), who were eliminated. The Cougars (7-14) advance to play top-seeded Colfax (15-5) Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. at Mead.

Alex Pfeifer and Jamie Stevenson scored 19 points apiece and Lind-Ritzville came out strongly in the first half and cruised past Wellpinit 78-61 in a District 7 2B tournament game at Spokane Falls Community College. Cory Whitmore and Matt Saetre added 16 points apiece for the Broncos (18-4), who outscored the Redskins 20-5 in the first quarter and led 42-17 at the half. T.J. Flett had 19 points and Cody Flett added 16 points and eight rebounds for Wellpinit (14-9). … Also at SFCC, Tyler Moos scored 12 points and Ryan Schulz added 11 to lead Reardan past Selkirk 55-34. D.W. Daley tallied a team-high 10 points for the Rangers (13-10), who will play Wellpinit in a loser-out game at 11:15 a.m. today. The Indians (19-3) will play Lind-Ritzville today at 2:30 p.m. to determine the third and fourth seeds to the regional tournament, Feb. 16-23 at Mead and Mt. Spokane high schools.

Wyatt Sitton scored 23 points on 11-of-16 shooting to lead St. John-Endicott to a 63-39 victory over Sprague-Harrington in a Whitman County League tournament game in Endicott. Terry Kissler had 16 points for the Falcons (2-18), who were eliminated. The Eagles (11-10) advance to play LaCrosse-Washtucna (12-9) at noon today. … Elsewhere, Rosalia defeated Tekoa-Oakesdale 75-70 in overtime. The Nighthawks (14-7) advance to the 1B District 9 tournament as the third seed while the Spartans (15-6) will play top-seeded Garfield-Palouse (15-4) at 4 p.m. today to decide the top two seeds.

Alex Gauper and Danny Peterson scored 10 points apiece to lead Lewis and Clark to a 51-43 Greater Spokane League win over host Mt. Spokane. The Tigers (5-15) took control in the second half, outscoring the Wildcats 29-23. Jordan Poynor had 13 points and Chaz Johnson added 12 to lead Mt. Spokane (9-9)

Jordan Lupfer-Graham made 15 of his 18 free-throw attempts and finished with 20 points to guide West Valley to a 59-40 Great Northern League victory over host Riverside. James Cahalan had 14 points and Matt Roth added 10 for the Eagles (11-5, 7-3), who made 30 of 42 free throws while the Rams were 5 of 10 from the line. Jake Saxon and Josh Nyberg scored 10 points apiece for Riverside (7-11, 2-10). … Also in the league, Dustin McConnell scored 18 points and Cody Brown added 16 as Clarkston opened up a big first-half lead and cruised to a 65-48 victory over host Deer Park. The Bantams (9-6, 7-2) outscored the Stags 18-8 in the second quarter and led 34-17 at the half. Corey Meyers led Deer Park (8-8, 3-7) with 16 points and 10 rebounds. … Griffon Jones scored 22 points and grabbed 11 rebounds to lead Cheney (11-4, 6-3) to a 54-45 victory over host Colville. Devin Almas had 16 points to lead the Indians (8-9, 2-9). … Medical Lake’s game at Pullman was postponed because of weather conditions and will be made up Feb. 20.
