City forum
Spokane First Presbyterian Church, 318 S. Cedar St., will kick off its 11th season of Spokane City Forum on Wednesday from 11:45 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The first speaker will be the Rev. Robert J. Spitzer, president of Gonzaga University. He will discuss “Business Ethics in Spokane – The Good City.”
Admission is $10 ($5 for students) and includes lunch. Child-care is available for $4 per child.

Movie showings
“Manito United Presbyterian Church, 3220 S. Grand Blvd., will present the second movie in its Films of Faith – Lenten Movie Series today at 4 p.m.
“The Hiding Place” is about middle-aged sisters working in a watchmaker’s shop in pre-World War II Holland. Soon the Nazis come and change their lives.
The church will provide fee soda and popcorn, and there will be a discussion after the movie.

Valentine events
Two Spokane Valley churches are hosting belated Valentine’s Day events:
“Opportunity Christian Church, 708 N. Pines Road, will have a Valentine’s spaghetti lunch following the 10:30 a.m. worship service Sunday.
The event will be hosted by the youth of the church, who are raising money for a youth mission trip. Admission is by donation.
“St. Paschal Catholic Church will host a Valentine’s breakfast from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. Sunday in the basement of St. Paschal School, 2521 N. Park Road.
The menu includes pancakes with strawberries, scrambled eggs, sausage, fruit and beverages. The meal, hosted by the Knights of Columbus, is by donation.
Fundraisers
“Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 1703 N. Washington St., will offer a soup and sandwich luncheon after Divine Liturgy on Sunday.
The Ladies Philoptochos (Friends of the Poor) will accept donations for the Kids ‘n’ Cancer Agape Camp Ministry of the Metropolis of San Francisco Ladies Philoptochos Society.

“Country Homes Christian Church, 8415 N. Wall St., is hosting its annual Food Fight during the month of February.
The food drive pits the men versus the women to see who can bring in the most nonperishable food. The losing team will cook dinner for the winning team.

Incarnation lecture
The John Paul II Club at Gonzaga University will sponsor Catherine Brown Tkacz on Wednesday at 7 p.m. in GU’s College Hall, Room 203, 502 E. Boone Ave.
Tkacz’s lecture, “Women and the Incarnation,” will focus on the theological implications of the Incarnation as a re-sanctification of both men and women.

Mystery Dinner Theater
Zion Lutheran Church, 8304 E. Buckeye Ave., is inviting the community to a family-friendly “Mystery Dinner Theater” next Saturday at 4 p.m.
The event has a 1950s theme and those attending are encouraged to dress the part.
