Ballou takes state title
TACOMA – Meghan Ballou has had all kinds of success in club gymnastics.
The Mt. Spokane junior added state champion to the list on Saturday at the WIAA/Dairy Farmers of Washington State 3A/2A Gymnastics Championships at the Tacoma Dome Exhibition Hall.
Ballou, the only local gymnast to qualify for the second day of competition, finished first on the beam with a 9.50 ahead of Issaquah’s Olivia Goree, who earned a 9.375.
While no 4A locals advanced past Friday, the University Titans – the lone Greater Spokane League squad to qualify for the team competition – collected 159.925 points to finish fourth. Woodinville, Puyallup and Todd Beamer finished first, second and third, respectively.
