ID theft leads FCC complaint list

The Federal Trade Commission released its annual list of the top consumer frauds reported during 2007.

Not surprisingly, identity theft was the most common problem.

Here’s the breakdown of the top 10 type of complaints reported:

Identity theft… 258,427 complaints

Shop-at-home/catalog scams… 62,811

Internet services… 42,266

Foreign money offers… 32,868

Sweepstakes and lotteries… 32,162

Computer sales/equipment… 27,036

Internet auctions… 24,376

Health care claims… 16,097

Travel, timeshares… 14,903

Loans and credit repair… 14,342
