There are good reasons to support EVSD bond

The East Valley Board of Directors have placed a $33 million bond issue before the taxpayers of the district.

According to my review of the issue, the school district had completed the correct procedure required by the state of Washington to determine the appropriate needs and which buildings should receive a makeover. It is evident that this issue will enhance the educational environment for students and staff. It will also improve the entire infrastructure of the three buildings which should save the district money in energy and maintenance costs.

In my opinion there are three other very important reasons to support this bond issue.

•The proposed bond issue will not increase our local school tax which we are presently paying.

•By approving this bond issue the District will receive $22.7 million in state support called state matching funds to help complete the school construction.

•The total amount of the issue will be retained locally to support local architects, contractors and other business needed to complete the project.

The issue must be supported when it will not increase our local school tax, the district receives a large amount of state matching funds, and it will aid the local economy.
