K.C. Wiser scored 26 points on 8-of-11 shooting and pulled down eight rebounds to lead the Linfield men’s basketball team to a 77-70 victory over Whitworth in both teams’ Northwest Conference opener at Ted Wilson Gym Friday night in McMinnville, Ore.

Steve Taylor added 18 points for the Wildcats (6-4, 1-0)

Ryam Symes scored 19 points and Colin Willemsen added 10 points and 12 rebounds for the Pirates (6-3, 0-1).

•David Johnson, Michael Timmons and Melvin Jones all scored 13 points to guide North Idaho to a 95-66 victory over Montana Western JV in the second day of play at the Donnelley Sports Invitation in Twin Falls, Idaho.

Kene Anusionwu added nine points and 14 rebounds for the Cardinals (13-1).

Junior hockey

Conner Olsted scored three goals to give Spokane a 3-1 Kootenay International Junior Hockey League victory over host Creston.

Ulrich Cash made 32 saves for the Braves, who improved to 17-17 on the season. The Thunder Cats fell to 20-14.
