Mead bounced back from its first Greater Spokane League loss in four years Thursday by holding off North Central during a five-way meet at Mead. Mead’s Taylor Gray won the floor exercise and finished second in the all-around. NC’s Katie Sweatt won the uneven bars, balance beam, vault and all-around title.

Wrestling

Ben Moore (152) defeated Ryan Phillipy 8-3 with a third-period flurry and Mead (7-2) posted a 49-21 Greater Spokane League win at Mt. Spokane. John Bergstrom of the Wildcats (4-5) defeated Joe Farley 8-1 at 171. … Parker Franklin, trailing 5-2 in the third period, pinned Chris Weise at 145 to help University (7-2) to a 58-15 win over visiting Rogers. Vang Lor of the Pirates (2-7) had a takedown at the buzzer to defeat Danny Seymour 6-4 at 119. … Ferris (7-3) won the first five matches, including pins by Andrew Michel (135) and Ian Bauman (160), and rolled to a 45-16 win at Lewis and Clark. Steve Johnson of the Tigers (1-8) defeated Ryan Kernkamp 4-1 at 215, sealing the win with a late takedown. … Nick Bellomy (160), Dakota Lawson (171), Clete Hanson (189) and Jordan Berezay (215) had consecutive pins to help East Valley (8-1) run away with a 61-10 win at Gonzaga Prep (0-9). At 145, G-Prep’s Chris Tripplet edged Nic Price 12-10. EV tied idle Central Valley for first place.

Riverside (5-0) ended with a pin and major decision to post a 37-36 win over visiting Clarkston (2-2) in the Great Northern League. At 160, Riverside’s Jacob DesRoches pinned state placer Ryan Darnell in the third period. … Jason Skjothaug’s pin at 145 started Cheney (2-1) toward four consecutive wins during a 45-31 win over visiting Medical Lake (1-3). At 152, Cheney’s Austin Miller had a late escape and takedown to defeat Eric Bruce 6-3. … D.J. Hall (215) escaped from his back for a first-round pin, capping Colville’s run of five consecutive pins, and the Indians (2-1) posted a 49-36 win over visiting West Valley (0-5).

Girls basketball

Cassie Thompson scored 23 points to lead Timberlake (7-9) to a 41-28 win over host Kootenai in non-league play at Harrison. Hannah Nyrop of the Warriors (5-10) had 11 rebounds, four assists and four steals.
