Marlins 4, Nationals 2: At Miami, Alfredo Amezaga hit a go-ahead, two-run home run in the seventh inning when play resumed after a 1 1/2 -hour rain delay, and Florida beat Washington.
Pirates 9, Reds 5: At Cincinnati, Xavier Nady homered twice and drove in four runs to lead Pittsburgh to a victory over the Reds. Nady had a run-scoring single, a solo homer and a two-run shot off right-hander Daryl Thompson.
Phillies 7, Braves 3: At Atlanta, Ryan Howard hit a three-run homer, Pat Burrell added his second homer of the series and Philadelphia beat the Braves. Adam Eaton matched his season high with five walks but gave up only five hits and two runs in five innings for his first win in five starts.
Dodgers 4, Astros 1: At Houston, Hiroki Kuroda threw seven shutout innings after coming off the disabled list, and Jeff Kent had a pair of RBI doubles to lead Los Angeles over the Astros. Kuroda allowed five hits with one strikeout.
Cardinals 8, Mets 7: At St. Louis, Troy Glaus’ second homer of the game with two outs in the ninth defeated New York, an inning after pinch-hitter Chris Duncan’s two-run shot tied it.
Brewers 4, Diamondbacks 3: At Phoenix, Mike Cameron singled home Russell Branyan with one out in the top of the ninth to lift Milwaukee to a victory over Arizona. Cameron finished 2 for 4 with two RBIs.
Rockies 8, Padres 1: At Denver, Garret Atkins, Troy Tulowitzki and Yorvit Torrealba homered to help Colorado beat San Diego. Atkins drove in four runs and Ubaldo Jimenez allowed five hits and one run in 6 1/3 innings.
Cubs 6, Giants 5: At San Francisco, Mike Fontenot hit a tiebreaking home run in the eighth inning and Chicago earned a win over the Giants. Jim Edmonds also homered for the Cubs.
