Oscar joke?

The 2008 Oscar nominations won’t be out until Jan. 22, yet the late Heath Ledger already is being mentioned as a possible nominee.

Ledger, who died – coincidentally enough – last Jan. 22, stars as The Joker in Christopher Nolan’s “The Dark Knight,” which will be released next Friday.

One Los Angeles television reporter, KTLA’s Sam Rubin, has said that Ledger “will absolutely be nominated for an Oscar.”

If so, it’ll be a rarity: Only six other actors have been posthumously nominated, and only one – Peter Finch for 1976’s “Network” – won.
