Johnson reports to Bengals camp
Receiver Chad Johnson had nothing to say when he reported for training camp at Georgetown, Ky., on Sunday, ending the Cincinnati Bengals’ offseason drama with a pillow under his arm and a leave-me-alone look on his face.
Now, the Bengals can try to move on.
By showing up on time and without complaint, the Pro Bowl receiver brought his teammates some relief from his failed attempts to get traded. They were glad that Johnson was no longer a hot issue.
“I think it’s water under the bridge,” said receiver T.J. Houshmandzadeh, one of Johnson’s closest friends on the team.

Ziegler sets beginner’s record
Oakland Athletics reliever Brad Ziegler recorded six outs against the visiting Texas Rangers to set a major league record with 27 scoreless innings to begin his career.
The 28-year-old right-hander gave up two singles in two innings against Texas but was otherwise flawless. He struck out three and started an inning-ending 1-6-3 double play in the eighth before giving way to closer Huston Street.
Ziegler broke the previous mark of 25 innings set by Philadelphia Phillies right-hander George McQuillan in 1907. Ziegler’s scoreless streak also is the third-longest by an Oakland reliever.
The Athletics beat the Rangers 6-5.

Steve David drove Oh Boy! Oberto to victory Sunday in the Lamb Weston Columbia Cub for unlimited hydroplanes at Kennewick, Wash.
Jean Theoret led three and a half laps of the final heat in Miss Beacon Plumbing, but he was sidelined by a mechanical failure that left him dead in the water.
David then moved into first place and took the checkered flag on the Columbia River.
