The Slice

I’m a baby boomer, so I know a little about opera.

That, of course, is because I watched Bugs Bunny.

Are kids today benefiting from this educational experience?

If they aren’t, I have a solution.

World-class animator Chuck Jones, the late director of such Bugs classics as “What’s Opera, Doc?” and “Rabbit of Seville,” was born in Spokane. Maybe we could celebrate his September birthday with a Bugs Bunny/Opera film festival.

It wouldn’t have to last long, and it honestly would appeal to all ages — unlike most offerings that purport to do that.

It’s just a thought.

But I hate to think there might be Inland Northwest kids who have not had the Bugs-and-Elmer Fudd short course in the classics.

Oh, wait till I get that wabbit.
