Green is a commitment
This may be a farfetched interpretation on how society has reacted to our new emphasis on minimizing our ecological footprint, but does it feel as though “going green” may just be a simple trend that has captivated America? People seemed to have reacted suddenly to the thought that organic food wasn’t just for vegans and that limiting the use of the family car was practical and tolerable.
Pursuing an Earth-friendly lifestyle is a commendable transition that benefits the planet, but what concerns me is the longevity of this zeal. Maybe biking to work, buying organic and shutting off the water while brushing your teeth seems appealing now, but sadly, the interest of American consumers is capricious. In other words, after a while, people will surely lose interest in staying green. People need to understand that going green is not just a trend but in fact a commitment toward maintaining a lifestyle of necessity, moderation and consideration for the resources nature has given us.
