Vacation Bible school season heats up
If school is getting out, it must be time for the Vacation Bible School season to begin. Valley churches offer the fun mix of Bible instruction and games to children every summer and the first ones are coming up the week of June 23. As always, it’s a good idea to register for the popular sessions early.
• Opportunity Presbyterian Church, 202 N. Pines Road, will host five days of “Power Lab: Discovering Jesus’ Miraculous Power” beginning June 23. Children age 3 through those entering sixth grade may attend. The session will be from 9 a.m. to noon Monday through Friday, and there will be a special family night on June 26 from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.
The cost is $10 per child, which includes a T-shirt. Scholarships are available. Call 924-9750 for more information or to register.
• The congregations of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, St. Mary’s Catholic Church and the Episcopal Church of the Resurrection are again joining together to offer a Tri-parish VBS session, called “Camping with God.” The session will be June 23 through 26, from 6 to 8 p.m., preceded by a light dinner for families at 5:30.
This year children in preschool through the second grade will meet at Good Shepherd, 810 S. Sullivan Road. Children in grades 3 through 5 will meet at St. Mary’s, 304 S. Adams Road. There will be classes for adults at both sites while the children gather.
The cost is $10 for the first child and $5 for each additional child. Scholarships are available. Call Good Shepherd at 926-8611 or St. Mary’s at 928-3210 to register or for more information.
