Bill Jennings Staff writer

Area high school students were awarded $2,500 in scholarships on behalf of a partnership between Banner Bank and the Spokane Indians.

Camille Mackie (West Valley), Clete Hanson (East Valley), Caitlin Sybouts (Ferris), Emily Andrews (Ferris) and Joanna Lim (Mead) received $500 toward their college tuition.

The winners and their families will be hosted at the Spokane Indians’ game on June 19 and honored during a pregame ceremony.

This is the third year of the Banner Bank–Spokane Indians Scholarship Program. Fifteen students have been awarded $7,500.

“We’re excited to have such a great pool of applicants,” said John Wagner, Executive Vice President of Banner Bank. “With our partners, the Spokane Indians, we’re proud to honor these five outstanding students.”

The awards are based on achievement in four areas: scholarship, leadership, character and community involvement. The program is open to any student attending high school in Spokane County.
