Blue Jays 3, Cubs 2: At Toronto, Scott Rolen and Matt Stairs hit back-to-back home runs, A.J. Burnett won for the first time in four starts and the Blue Jays beat Chicago, snapping the Cubs’ four-game winning streak.
Rays 7, Marlins 3: At St. Petersburg, Fla., Eric Hinske and Dioner Navarro drove in two runs apiece, leading Tampa Bay to a victory over Florida. Troy Percival worked a perfect ninth for the Rays after coming off the 15-day disabled list earlier in the day.
Diamondbacks 1, Royals 0 (10): At Phoenix, Chad Tracy homered with one out in the bottom of the 10th inning off Yasuhiko Tabuta to lift Arizona to a victory over Kansas City.
Reds 3, Red Sox 1: At Cincinnati, Jay Bruce and Adam Dunn hit solo homers and right-hander Aaron Harang got his first victory in a month, leading the Reds to a victory over Boston. Harang hadn’t won since May 12, losing his last four starts.
Orioles 9, Pirates 6: At Baltimore, Luke Scott homered, Melvin Mora had three hits and a key RBI, and the Orioles rallied from a five-run deficit to beat Pittsburgh. Jason Michaels hit a three-run homer for Pittsburgh.
Athletics 5, Giants 1: At San Francisco, Greg Smith won for only the second time in his last nine starts and got his first career hit as Oakland beat its former ace Barry Zito and the Giants.
Mets 7, Rangers 1: At New York, Oliver Perez pitched seven stellar innings to lead the Mets to a victory over Texas. Josh Hamilton homered and had two hits for the Rangers, but the best-hitting club in the A.L. managed just one other hit.
Braves 5, Angels 2: At Anaheim, Calif., Gregor Blanco was 3 for 4 with two RBI singles and Atlanta defeated Los Angeles. Jeff Francoeur and Omar Infante had RBI doubles for Atlanta.
Twins 10, Brewers 2: At Milwaukee, Kevin Slowey pitched eight effective innings and hit a two-run single for his first career RBIs, leading Minnesota past the Brewers. Justin Morneau and Alexi Casilla had three RBIs apiece for the Twins.
Tigers 5, Dodgers 0: At Detroit, Armando Galarraga and Freddy Dolsi combined for a three-hitter and Marcus Thames and Magglio Ordonez homered to lift the Tigers to a win over Los Angeles. It was Detroit’s fourth consecutive win.
White Sox 5, Rockies 4: At Chicago, Juan Uribe tied it with a two-run single and came around to score on A.J. Pierzynski’s infield hit in a three-run seventh inning that lifted the White Sox past Colorado.
Yankees 2, Astros 1: At Houston, Derek Jeter hit a solo homer in the eighth inning off Doug Brocail and Joba Chamberlain pitched six strong innings in his first career road start to lead New York to a win over the Astros.
Indians 9, Padres 5: At Cleveland, Grady Sizemore hit two home runs and had three RBIs to lead the Indians to a victory over San Diego.
