Tigers 5, Dodgers 4: At Detroit, Nate Robertson pitched six shutout innings, Marcus Thames and Brandon Inge hit back-to-back homers and the Tigers beat Los Angeles for their sixth straight win.

Indians 7, Padres 3: At Cleveland, C.C. Sabathia outpitched Greg Maddux in a matchup of Cy Young winners, and the Indians defeated San Diego. Ben Francisco hit a three-run homer and Grady Sizemore hit his ninth homer in 16 games.

Cubs 7, Blue Jays 3: At Toronto, Ted Lilly tossed six scoreless innings, Derrek Lee drove in three runs and Chicago beat the Blue Jays. Aramis Ramirez added his 10th homer of the season for the Cubs.

Rangers 8-2, Mets 7-4: At New York, Kevin Millwood held the Mets to five hits over six innings to earn his first road win since last Father’s Day and Texas held on for a victory in the first game. Pedro Martinez pitched six sharp innings, pinch-hitter Robinson Cancel got his first major league hit in nearly nine years and New York split the doubleheader.

Red Sox 9, Reds 0: At Cincinnati, Coco Crisp drove in four runs, and Jacoby Ellsbury homered and stole two more bases for a Boston rookie record in a victory over the Reds.

Pirates 5, Orioles 4 (10): At Baltimore, Matt Capps pitched a perfect 10th inning after Adam LaRoche singled in the tiebreaking run in the top half, and Pittsburgh beat the Orioles.

Marlins 9, Rays 3: At St. Petersburg, Fla., Ricky Nolasco came within one out of the first complete game of his career, and Mike Jacobs and Wes Helms hit three-run homers to power Florida to victory over Tampa Bay.

Brewers 4, Twins 2: At Milwaukee, Mike Cameron hit a two-run homer, Seth McClung continued his resurgence as a starter and the Brewers bullpen was finally solid in a victory over Minnesota.

Yankees 13, Astros 0: At Houston, Chien-Ming Wang pitched five scoreless innings before hurting his right foot running the bases, and Alex Rodriguez hit a three-run homer in New York’s win over the Astros.

Rockies 5, White Sox 3: At Chicago, Brad Hawpe hit a go-ahead home run, Aaron Cook earned his career-high 10th win and Colorado hung on to beat the White Sox. Chicago loaded the bases in the ninth. but the Rockies escaped with their eighth win in 11 games.

Athletics 5, Giants 3: At Oakland, Eric Chavez had three hits and two RBIs to help the Athletics complete their second consecutive sweep of San Francisco. Huston Street pitched the ninth for his 13th save in 15 chances.

Royals 8, Diamondbacks 3: at Phoenix, David DeJesus hit his first career grand slam, lifting Kansas City over Arizona. DeJesus also doubled and singled and had a career-high five RBIs. Gil Meche went 71/3 innings for his first win since May 15.

Angels 2, Braves 0: At Anaheim, Calif., Casey Kotchman homered, Joe Saunders pitched seven scoreless innings and Los Angeles beat Atlanta. Saunders held the Braves to six hits and the Angels won despite scoring four runs or fewer for the 14th straight game.

Associated Press
