People: Should’ve gone the extra Miley
Billy Ray Cyrus says he wasn’t around when his 15-year-old daughter, Miley, was photographed wrapped in a sheet with her back exposed for Vanity Fair magazine.
”(Miley’s) publicist was there, and everyone seemed in control,” the 46-year-old country star said Tuesday on NBC’s “Today” show. “I didn’t know they (were) gonna strip her down and wrap her with a blanket.”
“So I was surprised when I saw it, you know, but … stuff happens. That’s life. Things happen, and sometimes things get a little out of control and you just gotta deal with life.”
Cyrus, who co-stars with his daughter in Disney Channel’s “Hannah Montana,” said Annie Leibovitz was a “good person and a great photographer,” but in hindsight, he would have stayed to chaperone the shoot.
Another controversial photo in the June spread showed Miley in a midriff-baring black tank top as her father held her in his arms.
Asked if that photo was a mistake, he said: “It’s not a mistake to me. If it is to someone else, I’m sorry if I offended somebody, but no, that’s just a daddy that loves his daughter a whole lot.”
Rivers runs blue
Joan Rivers‘ salty tongue got her booted from a British daytime talk show Tuesday.
Rivers used two expletives while talking about Russell Crowe while guest-hosting the live gab-fest “Loose Women.” She was asked to leave during a commercial break.
The 75-year old comedian apologized, adding that the incident reminded her of her wedding night – because she was asked to leave in the middle of that, too.
On the other foot
Prosecutors have declined to press charges against Britney Spears for allegedly running over a paparazzo’s foot with her car, saying he was to blame for any injuries he suffered.
The unidentified photographer filed a criminal complaint against Spears in early May, nearly six months after the alleged incident.
Prosecutors say Spears drove “at an extremely slow rate of speed and in a straight path” while being mobbed by photographers.
Will anybody love Brad?
Brad Garrett is producing and starring in a new online series titled “Dating Brad Garrett.”
The ” ‘Til Death” star will go out on dates with 10 women who have submitted applications on Crackle.com., vetted by a panel including his ex-wife and his urologist.
“An online dating show seemed like a logical choice, given that I’m in the midst of a midlife crisis, and adverse to pain, which makes getting my ear pierced out of the question,” he says.
Call her ‘Nosh Spice’
Actor Corey Haim, who dated Victoria Beckham in the mid-‘90s at the onset of her Spice Girl fame, says she was a horrible kisser.
“When she kisses she does this little ‘grrhh’ thing,” Haim says. “What did it feel like? Like a girl gnawing on your lip!”
