RiverHawks pummel Knights
Chris Vitus and three relievers combined to throw a one-hitter and catcher Greg Lagreid went 4 for 4 with three runs batted in as the Spokane RiverHawks romped their way to a 14-0 victory over the Corvallis Knights in West Coast Collegiate Baseball League action on Tuesday night at Avista Stadium.
Logan Boyd went 2 for 4 with three RBIs for the RiverHawks (4-7), who scored seven runs in the second inning and never looked back.
Vitas allowed only a third-inning single by Corvallis (7-4) third baseman Doug Cherry in his six innings of work. He struck out six and walked one.
Second baseman Aaron Headrick and shortstop Ernesto Ortiz each had two hits and an RBI for Spokane. Headrick had a double and Ortiz added a triple.
Corvallis starter David Stilley was saddled with the loss. He lasted just 11/3 innings and gave up six runs – five of them earned – on two hits and three walks.
