Bells down RiverHawks
BELLINGHAM – The Bellingham Bells took a five-run lead through five innings and rode it to a 5-3 win over the Spokane RiverHawks in the final game of their West Coast Collegiate Baseball League series Sunday.
The RiverHawks rallied for two runs in the sixth inning. Tyson Van Winkle led off with a single. After a strikeout, Greg Lageid was hit by a pitch and Kyle Krustangle followed with a single down the right-field line that scored Van Winkle. Lageid came home on Eric Renander’s sacrifice fly.
The RiverHawks (6-9) got their final run in the seventh when Rob Folsom doubled and scored one out later on Van Winkle’s single.
Folsom finished with three hits. Van Winkle and Krustangle finished with two apiece.
Matt Renner (0-2) pitched the first four innings against the Bells (6-9), giving up three hits and four runs (three earned) while walking four and striking out one. Cory Bannister finished the final four innings, giving up five hits and a run while striking out three.
