Chiefs stay 3rd in poll

The Spokesman-Review

The Spokane Chiefs remain third in the Western Hockey League writer’s poll.

The Chiefs (44-14-1-5), idle since last Wednesday, who trail Tri-City (47-14-2-2) by four points in the U.S. Division, are behind the Americans, who moved back into first place, and B.C. Division-leading Vancouver Giants (44-14-2-6) in the poll.

In the Canadian Hockey League poll that ranks teams from the three major junior leagues, Tri-City is second, Spokane third and Vancouver fifth.

Safety Brandon Keeler is the fourth former Eastern Washington Eagle to sign with the 2008 Spokane Shock, the team announced.

He was cut by the Arizona Cardinals on the last day of training camp in 2007.

The Shock, who open training camp this weekend, also put defensive lineman Kevin Harbour on waivers Monday.
