Classes and workshops

Spokane Art School Drawing Marathon – Weekend-long figure drawing event taught by three local artists, for ages 18 and older, Friday, 5-9 p.m., and Saturday-Sunday, 10 a.m.-4 p.m., cost: $45/day, $125/all three days. Introduction to Colored Pencil – Techniques including crosshatching, stippling, soft-touch and burnishing, with Judy Huddleston, for beginners and advanced students from high school through adult, Saturday, 1-6 p.m., cost: $60. Young People’s Arts Festival – The Moscow Arts Office is seeking artists to teach classes for this year’s spring festival on April 12, with the theme “Garden Art.” Proposals will be accepted through Friday. Visit www.moscow-arts.org or call (208) 883-7036.

Art on the Green – Artists are invited to enter the poster design contest for Coeur d’Alene’s 40th annual Art on the Green. Posters should be 12 by 16 inches and include the information “40th Annual Art on the Green, Aug. 1st, 2nd and 3rd, 2008, on the grounds of North Idaho College. The Citizen’s Council for the Arts.” The council’s logo should also appear on the poster, which should be unframed. The deadline is March 24; the winner will receive $600. Artists Loose on the Palouse – Artists are invited to apply for a booth at a two-day art festival hosted by On Sacred Grounds in Valleyford on July 18-19. Art and handmade crafts can be in any media. Orient/Inchelium/Valley Arts Consortium – Local visual artists, musicians, dancers, actors and others are needed to present programs to students in Northeastern Washington’s Orient, Inchelium and Valley school districts. Musicfest Northwest – The entry deadline is Wednesday (extended from March 3) for the 63rd annual competition for young performers, May 11-16.
